🎧 App Story ①
An app was the only way to bring what happened to hundreds of students in the classroom to the tens of thousands who could never sit in one — the trouble was that Ossam was not the person who knew how to build it. The Daechung English app is both the destination and the starting point of that ten-year story.
Two nieces in the 3rd and 4th grade shadowed English at 2×–4× speed, and three to four months later they could follow The Simpsons. “It took me a lifetime — the kids did it in three or four months?” That question became Daechung English, and the method was finished by an experiment in which Korean speed-listening alone opened all 12 participants’ ears to English. Ten years of books and lectures followed — but it never reached the people who could not sit in a classroom.
It carries the method of the book *WAV Speed-Listening: The 30-Day Miracle* exactly as written. ① Korean speed-listening at 2×–6× (every track is uncompressed original WAV) ② five-step training — speed-listening, variable-speed shadowing, reading captions aloud, audio composition, and a 1-minute speech ③ hiding the English (automatic-recall training) ④ self-tests for auditory age, audible frequency range, and English listening, so 30 days of change show up as numbers. It runs in the browser too, with no install.
The first attempt was outsourced development in 2021 (₩70 million) — when the dev team broke up, the app died with it. In 2026 Ossam built it himself, with AI: Python video → web app → React Native Expo, and the April launch of Daechung English. The full development story is written up separately.
Told exactly as the book tells it — about 100 installs in the early days, roughly 10 users a day, most of them existing students. This is no overnight-success myth. Yet in that same stretch one company owner’s app-measured auditory age came back from his 60s to the level of his 30s. People over numbers — that is the real result this app is recording.
