🎒 Story — an English-quitter’s first month
In the first instructor-training cohort came a 66-year-old student. Retired as a middle-school principal, and of the old grammar-education era, he said English had been a lifelong handicap. The training this man did in the first month was not English.
For all of September he did no English study at all. Just 20–30 minutes a day of Korean speed-listening — training in hearing fast words whose meaning you already know. Instead of straining to grasp unknown sounds, you let known sounds flow by fast, making the ear withstand speed. Why Korean first is set down in [[hangul-sokcheong-what]].
From October he started English shadowing. And here is the real part of this story — he did not do it steadily. He rested and resumed, over and over. These days he does it comfortably — roughly, in the literal sense. Now he follows 4× shadowing with ease.
When the 30-day routine is introduced, the most common question is “if I miss even one day, is it back to the start?” No. This man stopped and returned many times, and still the speed went up. More than keeping every day, what matters is returning. Quitting in the attempt to be perfect is a far more common failure.
What is certain in this record is the order and the attitude — he did Korean first, returned even after resting, and about four months later followed 4× with ease. Figures like “listening improved several times over,” by contrast, are not put in this piece — because they were never measured. Results vary by person — by age, prior study, and daily training time.

Expressions guaranteeing scores, ranks or timelines are not used either. Results vary by person.
